Back on track!

Wow, it's been a while. The last eight months have been a roller coaster for me. Chris & I split up in February, so my weight loss went right out the door. I started stress eating again, which is stupid considering I worked so, so hard to lose the weight. I went from working out everyday, sometimes twice a day, to working out once every two to three months if I'm lucky. I've gained back quite a bit & my jeans are tighter again. I was in a size 10 and now I'm back to a size 12. I'm working full time which is hard on the weight loss, especially having all the junk food right there. I'm exhausted when I get home from work so I'm not motivated to cook at all, especially on days the kids are with dad. I tend to go to the drive thru. I'm hoping to make a menu this week and maybe be able to stick to it. I got up and worked out this morning after sleeping for over eight hours straight, which hasn't happened in quite a while either. It felt good but wow, my legs were a tad bit sore.

One thing I did accomplish in February was my first 2 mile run. I did the Truffle Shuffle in Eugene. Considering the lack of sleep the night before & a little too much to drink, along with spraining my ankle pretty bad in December, I did pretty darn good (and I had to stop to tie my shoe which decided to come undone in the last 1/4 mile). Out of 453 people, I placed 170th with a time of 19:54.69. My goal was 22 minutes, so I'm really happy. Here's a video I just found online tonight showing me coming in at the finish line. It's 3:05 into the video in case you don't feel like watching the whole thing. And don't laugh, I look kinda stupid running I just found out. :) I'm in a white tanktop, black capris and the one who looks absolutely exhausted like I'm gonna pass out. Don't forget to pause the music on my playlist first, otherwise you'll hear the music & the announcer saying the runners names.



Well, here's hoping I can get myself back on track & start losing once again. I want to undo all the damage I've done the last eight months.

Panic attack!!!

OK, so tomorrow is the Truffle Shuffle. I thought I'd be ready for it, but I'm so totally not! I was doing good running on my treadmill, but then I got this stupid cold, so I wasn't doing anything for several days. Then life got in the way, I lost my motivation completely, and have proceeded to gain back 5 1/2 pounds in one week!!! That is exactly my weight loss for the last 3 weeks. And I gained it in one week!!! Talk about frustrating!!! And now I still have some of the cold left, so when I run, it starts hurting. I keep telling myself it's only 2 miles, so I can make it. But we'll see how long it takes me. I guess because I've never done something like this, I'm really worked up over it. And not to mention my weight has not cooperated with me at all. I hate the feeling that I've had lately. I had such great motivation the first few months, but it's gone now. In more than one way. So it's been really hard. Maybe someday soon I'll get that motivation back.

Running...

OK, I did it again. Pretty soon I'm sure I'm gonna be slowing down on my time, but I beat it again! This time by 29 seconds. I'm going for that 20 minute goal, but we'll see how long it takes me to actually get there. If I could just get the breathing thing down, life would be good. I still can't seem to breathe right so that it keeps me going at a steady and somewhat comfortable pace. And I really do think the change of scenery outside will help me. So until next time...

Running...

OK, so now I'm really proud of myself! The day is getting better and better. A friend of mine who is a really fast distance runner gave me some advice for running. I used to be a sprinter, not a distance runner, so I'm having a hard time with this whole thing. Well, add to the mix that I've been overweight for a long time, and of course it's gonna be hard. But anyway, he told me to push thru the pain. So tonight I pushed thru harder than I have been. I did end up walking for about 1 minute towards the end, but then started running again and picked up my speed even more. So I beat my previous time from 2 days ago by 1:21 and in one week I've improved my time by 3:26!!! I can't believe it's only been one week since I've started and I'm already running a 12 minute mile! So thank you to my friend with good advice!!!

I did it!!!

I did it! I finally did it! I broke into the 160's! Not by much, but I'm there and I plan on staying there. Well, until I hit the 150's of course. :) I finally feel like I'm starting to break free from the point of being stuck. It's not that I hit a plateau, because I haven't been trying hard enough to be plateauing. I just lost the motivation. But it's coming back. With a little help from a friend, it's coming back. I don't really have much else to say right now, other than I'm really excited that I hit the 160's and a big thank you to the person who inspired me to get moving back in August. I haven't been this happy in a long time with myself.

Oh, one thing that I did do this week that was really fun, Kassie & I went shopping. I had some gift cards to use from Christmas. I was saving them until I lost all my weight, but decided to use them now. Two were from Old Navy, which I haven't bought anything for myself there. I was kind of nervous because I'd tried stuff on there before and it never fit. I automatically grabbed size XL just because that's what I'm used to wearing, and especially at stores like that, things are always smaller. Well, I am happy to report that I had to make 3 trips to the fitting room, because all the XL were too big! I bought some really cute cargo pants that are size L!!! I had a really good time doing it. I've never enjoyed clothes shopping before. This was a major breakthrough for me. LOL! So now I have some cute clothes to wear. I just have to figure out what to wear first, and where I want to go in them! Decisions, decisions...

Running...

Well, here I sit, feeling pretty darn good. And sweaty. :) I just got done on the treadmill, even though I didn't think I was gonna work out today (I started out a bit tired after less than 3 hours of sleep last night). I had a little motivation today from a friend and decided to just get moving. I thought I'll just post my stats for my 2 mile runs on here and keep track this way. Hopefully I'll continue to go down in time, not up, but you never know. I might have a bad day, so I'm not gonna kick myself if I do. Just for me getting on and trying, I'm proud of myself.

2 miles!!!!

Well, it's not very often I post more than once in a day, but I had to get back on here tonight before bed. I decided to get back on my dreaded treadmill tonight, for the first time since hurting my foot on it. I wanted to get an idea of how far I could run without stopping, and see if I could even run without my foot hurting. Well, I did pretty good I think, for not running more than a couple times in the last I don't know how many years! I started off just walking to get used to the darn thing again, but after 2 minutes I'd had enough. So I cranked it up and ran and didn't stop till I got to 2 miles! It took me 27 1/2 minutes, but I did it without stopping (or falling off). :) I'm quite happy with what I accomplished tonight. I wasn't figuring I'd go further than a mile, but I had to keep pushing and pushing. So I'm gonna be ready for the Truffle Shuffle in 3 weeks! I may not place in the top 1/2, but for me, just running 2 miles is a huge thing! So whatever time I get, I'll be happy!

Weigh In

Well, it hasn't been the best of weeks, but it turned out OK at the end when I finally decided to get back on track. It's amazing what you can do when you eat good and exercise!!! :) I am finally back to my 4 mile workouts in the morning without my foot hurting, so I think that has helped. And then a friend of mine has convinced me to do the Truffle Shuffle in Eugene on February 8th, which is 2 miles. If I was walking it, piece of cake. But I've decided I want to run it, or at least most of it. So I've got some running to do in the next 3 weeks to get ready for it. I'm going to get back on the dreaded treadmill tonight for the first time since hurting my foot/ankle. We'll see how I do. I've set a couple of small goals for myself, the first is to finally break that 170 mark, which I plan on doing next week. Then to finish off the month, I'm wanting to get down to 165. Both of those are doable goals, so I just have to keep plugging away. So until next week...

This-n-that...

Well, here we are again, struggling. It's been 2 months since I first started slacking off, and I'm hoping to be getting back on track. Since my last post, I hurt myself, so that's been part of it. I was on my treadmill and stepped off wrong and slammed the side of my foot into the concrete floor. It was quite an event, the next 12 hours. I ended up passing out twice, once that night and once the next morning (according to the doctor, it was from the pain). So Chris dragged me to the doctor the next morning and they did x-rays. It wasn't showing a fracture, but she said sometimes they don't show up for a few days. I haven't gone back, just because I hate going to the doctor and I'm slowly working through the pain. I did what I was supposed to and stayed off of it (for the most part) for a week. I'm getting back into my workouts again, so I'm finally feeling better about that. I'm still up 2.4 lbs. today (from my lowest weight). It's a bit discouraging, but considering the time of year (all the eating) and then hurting myself, I'm not as upset as I normally would be about gaining. I just have to work that much harder to get it off and then some.

I do have a new goal to work towards though. I'm going to do a 1/2 marathon in April with my sister-in-law in Portland. We're talking 13.1 miles! I'm a little nervous, but very excited at the same time. I'm hoping my foot will be completely healed by then so I can do it. So I have 3 months from yesterday to prepare for it. We're going to walk it and do a little jogging too, so I'm curious to see how I do. I've never done anything like this before, so we'll see how it goes!

Well, I just wanted to post since I haven't done it for a while. That's becoming a habit, isn't it? :) Anyway, I'll try to be on time this week with my weigh in. Hopefully it'll be a good one!
